About Emily
Emily Bridget Taylor is a poet, artist, writer, and teacher from Whadjuk Noongar country (Perth, Western Australia).
Her words and imagery are inspired by honey-filled days of light and love, and the dark hours between – the duality that is Life’s gift.
In 2021, Emily began sharing her poetry on Instagram for the first time. What followed was a surprising, magical journey in which her words and images took flight in all different corners of the world, connecting specifically with women. It inspired her to keep creating and sharing her work, and lead to her writing love notes about the creative life alongside her poems, as another online offering.
Soon after this, Emily won a position in the Four Centres Emerging Writers Program 2022-2023, working with Katharine Susannah Prichard Writing Centre and Fremantle Press to develop her first full collection of poetry.
In 2022, Remedy, her illustrated poetry zine, was released. Printed in Australia on illustrious 100% recycled ivory pages, Remedy tells a poignant tale of love, loss, and redemption. Featuring stunning illustrations by Perth designer Claire Daley, Remedy will steal and puncture your heart, before mending it lovingly with words to uplift and resurrect.
Remedy soon turned into more than just a poetry book. Developing the story of Remedy into a 30-minute spoken word show set to music, Emily and her brother David had the privilege of bringing their dynamic storytelling to Wild Village Festival in 2022 - the first all-womens music festival in the state. In addition to this, select pieces from Remedy were chosen to feature in her artistic collection, Remedy for Walls, a digital art series.
In 2024, Remedy is being re-released as a full-length collection, distributing globally.
Emily’s artistic intention and calling is to pen words that heal, inspire and shed light on women’s stories, especially those that have been silenced or shamed. She hopes her work will make you feel less alone.
With love,
Emily Bridget Taylor
